Do you know what time is it? Of course you do … it’s time to do the Happy Friday dance! Those oh-so-special two days of bliss are here again – and I don’t know about you, but I like to make them count! We all know that one of the best ways to do this is to indulge in a little down time … which is why Fallyn is so excited to tell you about her much-needed time away at Kwa Maritane!

We recently got to stay at the amazing Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge – which is only a two-hour drive from Joburg. Let’s be honest, nothing beats down time or time to just relax and unwind away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Thanks to Megan, their Guest Relations Manager, our weekend was nothing short of perfect!

At Kwa Maritane, David and I arrived to a delicious welcome drink whilst checking in at reception. The porter then showed us to our room, where we found a beautifully-wrapped fruit platter with a complimentary bottle of red wine – and we all know that nothing beats a glass or two of wine when enjoying some down time!

Later on that evening, we got to indulge in the Fisherman’s Catch themed-dinner at the restaurant – the buffet was filled with a bunch of options including salads, vegetables, stir-fry, roasts … the list goes on! My philosophy is when you have this many choices – just eat a bit of everything!

The next day, we had a romantic champagne buffet breakfast as well as a complimentary buffet lunch on the restaurant terrace in the afternoon – an added bonus is the view as it overlooks the Pilanesberg! We even got to enjoy a reptile and snake demo as well as spend some time at the spa for a couples back, neck and shoulder massage.

After that, we just sat in the pool, sipping cocktails with the breath-taking view of the bush to keep us company – pure bliss! We then enjoyed a private afternoon game drive, where we got to see some of The Big 5, and ended off the day at the Bush Braai Boma for dinner – which, by the way, is in the middle of the bush – for an African buffet paired with a bottle of wine.

The highlight of our stunning weekend had to be the thrilling bush walk on the Sunday morning! We went looking for animal tracks whilst being educated on how to survive in the wild! After another delicious buffet breakfast at the restaurant, we were actually sad to be going home. All in all, we had an unbelievable experience at Kwa Maritane and we can’t wait to return, and to see Megan and her amazing team again! Oh, to find out more about their various accomodation rates, just give them a call.

Say Hi To Kwa Maritane on .
