Spring is finally here! It’s about time, right? One of my favourite things about this season is all the floral motifs that inevitably come with it. Darlings, it’s time to put all your heavier winter clothing into storage and make room for your wardrobe to bloom with beautiful blouses, flowy skirts, and cute dresses. Here are six essential items you need for the chic spring season ahead!
1. A Chiffon Blouse
Chiffon blouses are pretty, feminine pieces that are just perfect for spring. Seriously, Darlings … nothing exudes elegance more than chiffon! Go for one in a pastel pink or soft peach, and wear it loosely over a pair of light blue skinnies, or even tucked into belted maxi skirt.
Where to find it: Forever New, Mango, Zara.
2. A Pair Of White Jeans
White jeans are back in style … and they’re more transitional than ever! While they’re forever a summer favourite, don’t be afraid to pull them out in the spring. Layer them with a chunky off-the-shoulder sweater and high-heeled ankle boots, and your favourite pair of white denims quickly become a spring staple.
Where to find it: Guess, Woolworths, Zara.
3. A Flowy Maxi Skirt
Of all the skirt lengths and shapes out there, a maxi skirt with a bit of movement is a wear-anywhere item that creates a silhouette that flatters every shape! Skirts should be fun, so choose one in a fresh colour, like mint green or soft coral. Floral patterns are fabulous, too! On top, wear a basic body suit in a neutral colour like cream or white.
Where to find it: Forever New, Topshop, YDE.
4. A One-Shoulder Dress
The shape of the one-shoulder dress has been in hibernation for a few years, but if the spring 2015 runways have been any indication, it’s about to make a major comeback! Go for one in emerald green or burnt orange, pair it with a pair of strappy sandals and you’re all set for a glamorous spring luncheon!
Where to find it: Forever New, River Island, Topshop.
5. A Sweater Dress
Knits aren’t only for sweaters. I’ve spotted knit pants and tops in past seasons, but I am sure spring 2015 is going to be the season of the sweater dress. It isn’t meant to be a body-con situation, so don’t go for one that’s too tight … rather opt for a style with a little more tailoring and flare to make it modern, and finish off your look with a slim, elongated pendant necklace.
Where to find it: Country Road, Mango, Zara.
6. A White Button-Down Shirt
This garment might seem super-basic, but it’ll sure come in handy on colder days that call for preppy or polished looks. Make sure you go for a crisp white one that fits well. You can then wear your button-down tucked into a sexy high-waisted pencil skirt or trendy pair of boyfriend jeans without looking lumpy.
Where to find it: Cotton On, Country Road, Woolworths.
With these fantastic fashion tips, your closet is sure to be ready for the season change … happy spring!
