The Michelangelo Hotel is undoubtedly one of Sandton’s most luxurious establishments. Just think about it – it hosts thousands of international guests each month, boasts the unbeatable Nelson Mandela Square, and is home to a top-notch fine dining restaurant … and, of course, a fabulous Lindt High Tea.

The Michelangelo Hotel’s restaurant, Piccolo Mondo, hosts an amazing Lindt High Tea on the weekends, and to say it’s a treat would be a great understatement! Recently, I decided to try it out for myself (bye-bye, diet) … and I’m so excited to tell you all about my divine experience.

I arrived at Piccolo Mondo for the high tea, which runs every Saturday and Sunday between 14:00 and 17:00, with my boyfriend, who had a rather large appetite (and thank goodness for that!). We instantly admired the sophisticated ambiance that the restaurant presented – low lighting, a gorgeous spread of cakes and piano tunes floating through the air only added to this atmosphere.

Our very kind waiter came over to ask us what tea we’d like, and we decided on a pot of peppermint tea … because there’s nothing more refreshing, is there? We then decided we’d get up and load our plates with some of the scrumptious goodies on offer.

Now, Darlings, I know you’re wondering if everything is made with Lindt (right?) … and, well, most of it is! The Lindt fare on offer included pastries, tarts, macaroons, cupcakes, cakes, coffees, frozen lattes and even martinis.

In addition to this, the wonderful spread of teatime eats also offered sushi, croissants, finger sandwiches, miniature desserts, a chocolate fondue, and hot as well as cold beverages. I must say that while everything was sublime, the sushi and desserts really stood out for me.

Some of my favourite desserts included the Lindt chocolate mousse cake, raspberry chocolate mousse, the lemon tartlet, and the crème brûlée. Yes, I had a taste of many things!

By the end of our teatime indulgence, my boyfriend and I were stuffed and practically rolled out of the hotel. Overall, I must say that it was a delightful experience and well worth the price tag of just R225 per head. Darlings, the Lindt High Tea is a great foodie event to experience with a bunch of your girlfriends of your loved one … don’t miss out!

Candice JHB Darling bloggers are children who don't know the value of working hard for money and are giving my children false ideas of what kids their age are doing. Darling bloggers are presented with various freebies and living a life that's not connected to reality. Please get some real women blogging, if I wanted advice from children I would ask my daughter in Uni. There is more to life than junk food and the other shallow blog posts. How about promoting healthy eating, organisation tips, trending fashion from everyday SA stores - not everyone lives in "The North" of JHB. Darling needs diverse bloggers and non pretentious content. Also how is your BF relevant in every post? It's immature and unprofessional. JHB Darling, try read some real blogs and find bloggers who are authentic. Your good reputation is dwindling in line with your pretentious bloggers' posts.
