We all have that one special eatery that we’re unwaveringly loyal to – a no-fuss spot where you can pop in for a quick bite to eat and a cup of coffee and know that every time you visit you’ll have a wonderful experience.
A place where everybody knows your name and they’re always glad you came ... wait, no sorry that’s Cheers. But Cafe Billi Bi isn’t far off. The quaint little eatery at Stoneridge Shopping centre is turning the traditional coffee shop model on its head with friendly vibes and delicious fresh food!
You feel welcome from the moment you walk into Cafe Billi Bi – the waitresses and manager are all smiles all the time and the chef happily bounds through the restaurant to lend a helping hand by serving food to hungry diners and greeting customers at the door. The cafe is a far cry from the stock-standard franchised chain restaurants that you usually find at shopping centres. Chef Clifford Correia is setting himself and his eatery apart from the crowd with his signature style and personal approach – they don’t just churn out food here, each dish is carefully prepared and you can tell that the chef pays great attention to detail when whipping up your meal in the kitchen.
On the menu you’ll find mouth-watering options for breakfast and lunch – including the traditional egg and bacon fry up, French toast, gourmet sandwiches, burgers, salads, and pastas. I’m still dreaming of the scrumptious homemade beef pie I had (R66) and the Salmon Trout salad (R66) my friend had looked just as tasty! The baked camembert (R60) and home-style salmon fishcakes with potato salad (R82) also sounded delicious and I’ve definitely earmarked those as dishes to try the next time I go. They’ve also got a daily specials board so make sure you look out for that when you pop in.
If you’re on a diet make sure you avoid eye contact with the dessert table. It’s piled high with decadent cakes, cupcakes, and tarts that’ll have you ditching your well laid plans in a heartbeat. And, if you’re feeling parched they’ve got a fantastic cocktail menu with all the essential classic cocktails as well as a few options with a twist – I love the sound of the Todka Milkshake cocktail (R35) if you’re looking for a milky treat with a kick. Great news for teetotallers, they’ve also got delicious Mocktails on offer so you don’t have to miss out on all the fun.
