Just a heads-up that Facebook is going to be switching the status update and search boxes. You know what this means, right? All those people who are constantly stalking their ex’s will now be posting updates! Ha-ha – got you! Happy April Fool’s Day Darlings … and happy pretty-much-everything-on-the-internet-is-fake-day. Game on! Talking about games, move aside Monopoly, and make way Trivial Pursuit - Yunomi, a new-ish, super fun South African board game, is changing the way we hang out and is exactly what you need for the long weekend coming up. Plus, we’re giving eight games away!

Minding your own business is so last season because Yunomi is all about who knows the most about everyone else. The game was created by René Van Huyssteen who roped in his friends (and even the creator of Thirty Seconds) to make sure it would be a massive hit.

How does it work? There are 300 flipping funny questions that will have you snaughling (laughing so hard you snort, and then laugh because you snorted - and then snort because you laughed). One thing is for sure, your tummy muscles will be begging for mercy after each round. The game is pretty self-explanatory and it can be played by three or more players aged 10 years or older. All you have to do is answer the question on the card about one particular person in your group. If you get it right, you move on the board the number of spaces specified on the question card – if you get it wrong, you don't move.

So I put the game to the test and roped my family into playing just one round  - which turned into three rounds because we were having so much fun. As for the questions, relax … you won’t be forced to reveal your deepest and darkest secrets. There is good mix with a strong South African flavour. Think, “has the person ever travelled by cable car to the top of Table Mountain?”, “what is the persons dogs name” and, “does the person believe in life on other planets?” This is a really fun way to get to know your friends and family and I can imagine it’s also a great icebreaker for when you’re getting to know a new group. You will find Yunomi at Checkers, Makro, Game and Toy Kingdom from R250.

P.S. I have replaced the air freshener in our bathroom at the office with a foghorn … and now we wait!
