I do love a happy ending and boy have I got a great story, with a fabulous happy ending for you today. A few months ago I had enjoyed a wonderful stay at the African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel. One of the highlights of that stay was discovering sachets of Ciro Iced Tea powder in the coffee and tea cabinet (yes, I said highlight - I really love iced tea ok!) I enjoyed those iced tea sachets so much I became obsessed with finding them to enjoy at home. I searched high and low but it seemed like a reunion with my beloved sachets was not destined for me. Just as I was about to give up hope I came across The Gourmet Food Shop – a wondrous online shop – and there they were, MY ICED TEA SACHETS! I clicked buy and just one day later we were together again – it’s quite possibly the most beautiful love story ever told.

The Gourmet Food Shop is a bit of a spectacular foodie find as they’re one of the only online stores selling restaurant-quality catering goodies for normal plebs like you and I to enjoy at home.  Their online store offers all sorts of exclusive food products that are not available in most retail stores (like my Ciro tea sachets) and they’ll even deliver it right to your door. You can order ingredients, ready-made products and more to use for your next big celebration, at the office or just at home in your kitchen.

The list of items available is quite impressive – from top quality meat, poultry and fish to coffee, sweets and ready-to-cook catering snacks, they’ve got it all. What’s more, you won’t be paying through your teeth for the products! Because they already buy in bulk for their corporate and catering clients they can charge you the same price that you would pay at any other grocery store selling similar products. I was also excited to see that they offer those little Ciro Hot Chocolate sachets (R699 for 200 sachets) as well as Five Roses Summer Dream silk tea bags (R162.95 for a case of 27).

Their caterings snacks are also quite impressive and you can get your hands on one hundred assorted samoosas for R199, sixty lamb kofta bites for R309 and sixty beef sausage rolls for R209. They also offer a fabulous selection of cheese and cold meats in bulk. Something else I love is the German Deli section which stocks everything from authentic German bratwurst to sauerkraut.

Their delivery time is really impressive (24-48 hrs!) and there is a small fee delivery when ordering (R50 to Joburg Northern Suburbs, R100 to Centurion, R100 anywhere else in SA), but if you order for more than R500 they’ll deliver for free (to certain areas). You can also collect your order from their warehouse in Randburg if you’re not keen to pay for delivery.  If you’re ordering in bulk for an event or your office you’ll also enjoy free delivery and a lovely 7.5 percent discount on all orders over R5000.

Win!

One lucky Darling stands the chance to walk away with a R500 voucher to spend at The Gourmet Food Shop! Read a full list of competition rules here.
