Musical masterminds, The Strangeloves once proclaimed; “I want candy!” and the whole world sat up and thought; “They’re right, I could really do with some candy myself right now”. Which is exactly what you’re going to think after reading this post (spoiler alert!) So if you’re on some kind of new fangled diet where you’re not allowed to eat delicious sweet treats, then it’s probably best that you stop reading this right now because you’re about to have some serious sweet cravings. Why you ask? Well the answer is simple; I’m about to introduce to the awesomeness that is Candy Buffet and when you’re done reading this I dare you not to make up an excuse to have a party just so you can hire them to sweeten up your event.

Candy Buffet was dreamt up owners Keryn and Lee after they realised there was a huge gap in the local market for professionally made sweet treats at corporate and private events. And so, they used their combined marketing skills, Keryn’s skills as a master baker and candy artist and Lee’s skills as a master woodwork creator to conceptualise a super fabulous business aimed at sweetening up the eventing business. The candy gurus offer candy buffets, dessert bars and custom candy for events that need a little extra pizzazz and boy do these babies have pizzazz!

Not only will they create and source the very best candy for your buffet but they’ll also make sure that the candy steals the show by creating a spectacular theme for your sweet showcase. Whether you want the candy display to fit in with your party theme or completely blow people away they’ll conceptualise the perfect look and feel for you. You can also choose to display your buffet on one of their custom-built wood display cases and tables – like the one-of-a-kind vintage looking candy cart or the antique-esque furniture specially created by Lee himself (talented man I tell you) – and they can all be retrofitted to match the theme of your party.

I got the chance to pop through to their Benoni-based showroom and I can’t begin to explain how wonderful it was. In the elegantly decorated room all I could see were the boiled sweets in every shape and colour, moreish cupcakes, chocolate covered fruit and liquorice sticks bursting with colour on display. It was like heaven really. Luckily for me they didn’t make me stare at the sweet stuff all day and they actually let me try some. I got to sample some of Keryn’s yummy cupcakes (vanilla cupcakes with salted popcorn on caramel icing anyone?), a range of sugar free candy (which was amazing and perfect for kid’s parties) and decadent chocolate covered strawberries.

Everything was so delicious and I was just coming down from my sugar high when Keryn announced that they also offer savoury buffets. She brought out some yummy mini bacon and blue cheese quiches and Asparagus and gruyere tarts. I was blown away by how good these were as well and trust me when I saw Keryn has a knack for creating taste sensations – whether sweet or savoury. I also almost died when I saw their vintage popcorn machine which is also available for rental with your candy buffet.

The great news is they’re keen to work with any client no matter what your budget and they’re hell-bent on making sure the client gets as much value as possible out of their money. They’ll also do a buffet for any event you deem fit – kid’s parties, weddings, office parties, corporate launches, media parties – they’ll do it all. It’s just too lovely for words.
