I was rather stunned to find that Clarins has a Skin Spa in Waverley – who knew? And of course, I just HAD to road-test one of their facials, and came away with glowing skin and a firm resolve to stick to a better skincare routine!
Clarins Skin Spa’s key aim is to help you relax – because once relaxed, you are most receptive to the range of treatments and techniques on offer. From the moment you walk in and inhale the scent of their botanical range, you can actually feel yourself start to unwind. Then you can just close your eyes and let your therapist work her magic!
What I loved most about the facial was the fact that it was a very hands-on and incredibly gentle experience. There was no steaming or extraction, but rather a deep cleanse, exfoliation, the world’s most AMAZING face and neck massage, and a mask. I cannot begin to tell you just how my skin glowed when I walked out, as well as the fact that the puffiness around my eyes (thanks to a few late nights) had completely disappeared.
My therapist, Shennaaz, was a mine of information. She did a full analysis of my skin and pointed out a few things I could be doing at home to improve my skin care routine. For the first time EVER, I now understand why I should not skip using a Toner, and why a Night Cream makes such a difference. There was also absolutely no pressure to buy products (but you do receive a free one-hour facial after purchasing 6 products. I bought 2 eye pencils, a lip gloss and a fragrance, so I am well on my way!) I was also given some samples to try at home, as the products used in the salon are not the same as their home care range.
There are loads of treatments for the face and body on offer, as well as some lovely ones for moms-to-be. You can also have a wax, manicure and pedicure, as well as make-up lessons or make-up application for a special occasion. I have to say that I will definitely be back – the “wow” from my husband when I got home (without make-up on) said it all!
