I think it’s about time we gave a massive shout-out to the Swedes. Why, you ask? They brought us ABBA, Alexander Skarsgård (the hottie from True Blood), one of my favourite books of all-time (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and the most elegant, classic timepieces I have ever laid my critical eyes on - Daniel Wellington watches. I get it, the appeal of the watch today is that it’s an eye-catching accessory rather than a necessary time tool, but that’s quite alright with me. I’d be tempted to save on petrol and run to work for one of these preppy beauties … and I’m not even winding you up!
It all began when FilipTysander packed his bags, hopped on a plane and set off on an adventure half way across the world. It was during this time that he met a fascinating gentleman with impeccable style from the British Isles – he was suave, laid-back and unpretentious … and he wore his watches on old weathered Nato straps. You have one guess what his name was … yip, Daniel Wellington! Daniel Wellington’s effortless style was the guiding inspiration to the watch brand. Someone give these men a Bells!
You might have noticed by now that I have a thing for Scandinavian design – modern, yet functional with minimalistic, clean lines. If you’re on the lookout for a watch that will keep you fashionably on time with superb craftsmanship, you’re going to love Daniel Wellington just as much as I do.
So what’s all the hoo-ha about? Where do I even begin … it could have a little something to do with Japanese Citizen Miyota movement, the surgical grade stainless steel cases, the Italian leather or playful Natowatch straps. One thing you should know about me is that I’m not clumsy … the table and chairs just get in the way - which is why I love the scratch resistant, hardened mineral crystal glass. The uptick? The elegant, slim cases that comes in rose gold and silver. Swoon! One of my favourite features about these watches is that all the straps are interchangeable – and it’s so easy, you can do it yourself with the pin that comes with your watch. All Daniel Wellington watches come with a two-year international warranty that covers the movement and any manufacturing defects.
