Darlings, I’m not sure if you’ve noticed it in Clicks or Dis-Chem yet, but Essence has just released a fabulous new range of makeup called Happy Girls Are Pretty. According to their site, this girly collection is all about enhancing your natural beauty and showcasing natural and pastel shades. Let me tell you all about some of the products I’ve tried out from this stunning new range!
First off, I must comment on the colour scheme and packaging of the collection … I just love it. The delightful pastel shades complemented by brown nuances are perfect for achieving a natural, radiant makeup look. The packaging, on the other hand, which is designed to be super-girly, is fun and exciting. It’s very eye-catching, so if you’re a sucker for packaging like myself, I can guarantee you it won’t be long until you buy into this new Essence range!
My favourite product from the range has got to be the eyeshadow. There are two different palettes available, both with five colours each – vanilla, apricot, pink, grey and beige, or apricot, beige and three different shades of brown. The shades in both palettes are all you need to achieve a minimalistic smokey eye look. My favourite is probably the lighter palette, Happiness Is ... Seeing Your Smile. Those shades are especially pigmented and surprisingly very long lasting.
My second favourite product is the multi-colour blush in 01 You Sweeten My Day! The shimmery product is great for adding a natural glow and rosy hue to your cheeks. I love the basic transparent packaging that it comes in, which allows for the pretty pink heart embossed in the blush to be the star of the product. In terms of longevity, this blush is wonderful … I apply it in the morning before work and by the time I’m back home, my cheeks still have what looks like a fresh highlight. It looks even more gorgeous when you finish your makeup application with a spritz of finishing spray!
I’ve also tried out the contouring set from the range, which is fabulous for light to medium-skinned girls who love the prominent cheekbone look. It’s an ideal product for naturally emphasising your features … I love that the powder is matte with a very subtle shimmer that accentuates your cheekbones without having you look like a glitter ball. It’s very blendable and doesn’t at all appear muddy on the skin. I use my angled contouring blush to apply it and achieve a smooth, seamless finish every time.
Lastly, I’ve also got the cutesy 2-in-1 nail file from the range. It’s nifty to slip into your handbag for the inconvenient emergencies that are broken nails. The one side gentle shortens your nails, while the other side shapes. With this fabulous file, nail styling sessions are sure to be twice as nice … especially with the cute heart print and travel case!
Darlings, these beauty buys are great for girls on a budget … if you haven’t yet tried the range out, I urge you to! You can pick up any of these products at your nearest Clicks or Dis-Chem store. I can’t wait to try out the other awesome products that the range offers, such as the eye pencil, nail polish and sheer lip balm!
