Arts on Main, and its fabulous Sunday market - Market on Main, has to be one of the things that I love most about Joburg. There is simply nothing better than browsing through various stores stocking everything from heavenly food to gorgeous homeware – and you are always guaranteed to find something new. Such as Brak Furniture – funky retro-looking items that I would just love for my office (or Kayla’s room when she is older).

Now while my style at home tends to be more traditional (I LOVE antiques), when it comes to my office, I need something trendy and inspirational, and slightly quirky! Kayla is also developing a taste for things that are a little different, and I can so see her embracing these room dividers or funky desks in the near future.

Personally, I LOVE the A2 filing cabinets with their different-coloured drawers – such a showpiece and something that can be paired with a desk that has been painted white, or any desk that you have at present. I am also quite taken with the Kiaat Dressing Table and Cube Room Divider, as well as the Waxed Kiaat Bench and Mini Bookshelf!

All items are either upcycled or made to order, and can be viewed each Sunday at the market. You can also visit their website (link below) for a list of prices and details of other items that are available, as well as the various colours that can be used to personalise your piece,

And the prices are exceptionally good – R1 650 for the filing cabinet, R1 550 for the bench and R1 190 for the bookshelf!

Beverley This is the most stunning furniture I have seen in a long time. It so fits in with what I am looking for and will deffinately go buy a couple of pieces for my new home.
