Every now and then, I come across something so brilliant in its simplicity and so beautiful in design that I literally sigh with happiness. And when KOKO sent me one of their handbags to review, I was stunned. Because this gorgeous must-have handbag can double as a lunch bag! True story.
I can understand completely why Taryn Tanzer fell in love with the KOKO fashion range while shopping up a storm in Atlanta, and why she immediately made a plan to make them available to the South African public. Firstly, these bags are beautiful – funky, stylish, quirky, colourful or muted – there is something to suit every taste.
What fascinated me most is that the girls here in the office fell in love with the bag before we even knew its little secret – that each bag has a fully insulated lining which means that it can double as a lunch bag! For the business woman on the run, her lunch is kept cool throughout the day, and moms don’t need to look frumpy with kitsch, bulging baby bags – just pop the baby’s nappy, juice and snack into a KOKO bag! I think I may have squealed.
It gets better – KOKO bags are environmentally friendly, and come with a funky set of Eatools (an intertwined fork and spoon set). I am also madly in love with the SoftSpout Waterbottle, which is both beautiful and functional in that it doesn’t leak! HEAVEN for those of us who want to carry water with us throughout the day.
I must admit that I like the look of their totes and travel bags, and have my eye firmly on the weekend roller bag. I am also MAD about the City Shopper reusable shopping bags that scrunch up into small shapes to keep in your handbag, and expand into gorgeous shopping bags, beach bags or gym bags in seconds!
Needless to say, I am now a BIG fan of this entire range, the girls at the officeare busy ordering one for themselves, and I am definitely getting one for my younger (thinner and more attractive) sister for her birthday! Especially as the recommended retail price of the bags is from R350 – worth every cent, in my opinion! (You can order from Taryn via the contact details below.)
