Darlings, I have a confession to make … I’m a coffee snob of note. While there’s no shame in admitting it, the sad thing is that there just aren’t many brews in Joburg that impress me. However, I recently stumbled across a coffee shop in Melrose Arch that, in my opinion, serves up some of the very best coffee I’ve tasted – say hello to the trendy little space that is Naked Coffee!
Okay, you’re probably wondering how on earth I found this place, so let me get that covered. Naked Coffee is located inside Infinite Bleu (yes … it’s tucked away in a clothing store!), right next door to Truworths, and although it’s situated inside the store, they do have a little counter, which looks out onto the street.
I walked inside and was pleasantly surprised at how inviting the space was. The clothing store itself sells a premium selection of branded sweaters, denims and shoes, and I feel as if this gives Naked Coffee a somewhat uber-chic feel. The coffee shop’s décor itself is minimalistic with modern finishes, which only adds to the trendy ambiance of the space.
I took a seat at one of their comfy wooden tables and waited for one of the smiley baristas to come and take my order. I must admit, I was very impressed by the great selection of coffees on offer … they have everything from your classic cappuccinos and flat whites, to cuppas that are more up my alley like Americanos and Macchiatos. I decided to order up the latter (my favourite!), with a white chocolate blondie on the side.
Darlings, my coffee was love at first sip … it was of top-notch quality. That does make sense though, when you consider that all of Naked Coffee’s machinery and tools are of world-class quality too, and their baristas clearly know what they’re doing.
Just so you know, my cashew and white chocolate blondie with peanut roasting was just as delightful! I can’t wait to try their 70 per cent chocolate brownie with a cup of java on my next visit. On that note, it’s also worth mentioning that the coffee shop has a variety of other eats on offer, ranging from breakfasts and salads, to paninis and wraps. Plus, they have loads of drool-worthy fresh bakes, shakes and ice-creams on offer to satisfy those with a sweet tooth.
What I also really admired at Naked Coffee is that they give you the option of substituting ordinary cow’s milk in your coffee with Almond Breeze, which is a world-renowned almond milk brand.
Darlings, if you’re a coffee addict like myself, you simply need to pay Naked Coffee a visit. If you’re not much of a coffee drinker, you’ll be happy to know that they have loose-leaf teas on offer, too. It’s a brilliant place for a meet-up or to get some work done … the free, fast Wi-Fi on offer also makes Naked Coffee a great coffice!
