Let’s face it, Darlings … everyone wants the perfect skin. Some ladies are lucky and don’t have to do a thing for it – you know, those, who can eat Nutella out of a jar with a tablespoon before going to bed in full makeup and still wake up looking glowing and pore-less (if this sounds like you, I hope that beauty karma gets you one day!).
Other ladies, on the other hand (like me), have to totally change their lifestyle and go through a couple of circles of hell to even get closer to the dream of having an even, blemish-free complexion.
My latest skin treatment (not including my on-going experiment of a completely sugar-, gluten- and dairy-free diet) was the Milk Peel from the French cosmeceutical brand, Dermaceutic.
I’ve done treatments with acids before that weren’t all that successful. When it comes to peels like that, it’s often said that it’s got to get worse before it gets better. So, to be honest, Darlings, I was sceptical about the Milk Peel at first.
The treatment itself is a superficial peel (meaning it only affects the outermost layers of your skin and consists of 50 per cent of glycolic, salicylic and lactic acids with a pH value around 1.9.
The 30-minute procedure aims to reduce fine lines, brighten your complexion and regulate oil levels. Although it’s one of the brand’s mildest, it does sound like a handful of acids … but trust me, Darlings, it’s actually a lot gentler that its contents make it sound. The thicker and more mature you skin is, the better it will handle the treatment, according to the brand.
So did it work for me? My skin was first cleansed and the acids were then applied. The time of exposure may vary depending on the sensitivity of your skin, but it’s usually just a couple of minutes. After removal, I was smeared in skin recovery cream. Throughout the procedure, my skin did tingle, but it wasn’t anything unbearable.
As far as the results are concerned, there was nothing visible right away (which is only normal for treatments like this). My skin did, however, experience some redness and desquamation AKA shedding (once again, completely normal).
I only started seeing results four weeks later … and they were pretty impressive! My skin looked renewed and brighter with less visible pores, reduced fine lines and fewer blemishes. All in all, I’m happy to report that this skin treatment was well worth having. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome!
