Darlings, spoil your dad this Father’s Day with a whisky tasting that takes him on a journey through some of Scotland’s finest whiskies.
If you’re not too sure what to with your old man for Father’s Day (which is this coming Sunday, by the way), then Exclusive Books’ Social Kitchen & Bar in Hyde Park is giving you the opportunity to take Dad on a journey through Scotland.
As an unwritten rule, dads like good Scotch. So, starting at 12h00 on Sunday, your old man can experience a guided tasting of four of Scotland’s premier single malt whiskies, including Cardhu, Singleton 12-year-old, Talisker and Lagavulin,; courtesy of Diageo.
After the tasting, the entire family can indulge in lunch cooked by internationally- acclaimed chef, Russell Armstrong.
The five-course whisky- paired meal is priced at R350 per head, and the five-course non-paired menu is priced at R240 per head. Dishes will include an appetizer, followed by smoked salmon on brioche, créepinette of beef, oxtail and mushrooms,; slow-roasted pork rack with fondant potatoes, and gorgonzola panna cotta. If you’ve not been to the EB Social Kitchen & Bar before, then use this special day as an excuse – the food is divine.
Chef Armstrong has worked in collaboration with Diageo to develop the menu, which complements the characteristics of each whisky. Cardhu is well known for its hint of bruised pears, whereas Singleton 12 year old’s orange zest and spiciness leaves a lingering fruit finish.
Exclusie Books’ Social Kitchen & Bar in Hyde Park is not only Johannesburg’s best restaurant to share conversations and memories, it also completes the epicurean adventure with simple handcrafted food, inspired cocktails and a view fit for a king… You know, the stuff all dads would like.
