Darlings, wouldn’t it be great if you could get a few extra hours in the day so that you could take your time doing your hair and makeup in the mornings? No matter what you do for a living, there just never seems to be enough time available to spend on your beauty regime, right? So, here are ten beauty hacks every girl needs to know. Looking and smelling gorgeous has never been so easy!

1. Stay Odour-Free With Baking Soda

When you reach for your roll-on and discover that it’s empty, run down to the kitchen and grab some baking soda. It might not have a beautiful scent, but if you pat a little bit under your arms, it’ll keep you odour-free all day long! You can add a drop or two of lemon essential oil to the baking soda for an all-natural deodorant with a fresh scent.

2. Achieve The Perfect Winged Eyeliner Using Your Credit Card

When you’re in a hurry, getting straight lines of any kind with your liquid or gel liner can be tricky. If you don’t have time to carefully draw precise lines for a winged eyeliner, or your hands are simply too shaky from all your rushing around, just grab your credit card from your purse and use it as a guide to get those perfect cat eyes!

3. Tone Down Bruises With A Dab Of Mouthwash

It’s easy to knock an arm or a leg during the day and then completely forget about it … until you spot the big purple bruise the following morning that is! Rubbing a little mouthwash on a bruise will quickly reduce any swelling and decolouration.

4. Thicken Up Your Lashes With Baby Powder

Here’s one of my favourite beauty hacks: for a quick way to thicken lashes, simply apply a bit of baby powder to them before applying your mascara or between coats. Baby powder works great for thickening and extending lashes in an emergency, or when you don’t have the time to fiddle around and put on a pair of false lashes.

5. Tame Flyaway Hairs With A Toothbrush

I’m sure you’re all familiar with those pesky flyaway hairs that just won’t stay down no matter what you do … especially when you’re short on time! The quickest way to tame them is to spray a little hairspray onto an old toothbrush and softly comb the flyaway strands into place.

6. Pat Dry Your Hair With An Old T-shirt

Believe it or not, towels aren’t the most absorbent things that you can use to dry your hair. When you get out of the bath or shower and have minimal time to spare, pat dry your hair with an old cotton T-shirt, then wrap your locks in a second, dry T-shirt. Your hair will dry naturally while you get everything else done.

7. Double Up Your Mascara As An Eyeliner

When you lose your eyeliner or it runs out just when you don’t want it to, don’t panic! There’s no need for a last minute dash to the makeup counter to buy a new liner. Your mascara can double for it instead! Just sweep your eyeliner brush against a loaded mascara wand and you’re ready to go.

8. Blot Away Excess Oil With A Coffee Filter

When you’re out on a hot, humid day and start getting a bit of a sheen on your T-zone, there’s one simple yet useful beauty hack that can save you: coffee filter paper. Any kind makes for a great oil-absorbing blotting paper.

9. Freshen Up Your Roots With Corn Starch

If you don’t have time to wash your hair and you don’t have a bottle of dry shampoo on hand, another trip to the kitchen will solve that one for you! Sprinkle a little corn starch onto your roots to quickly get rid of that greasy look.

10. Use A Teaspoon And A Hairdryer When You Don’t Have Your Eyelash Curler

If you find yourself in a fix with a broken eyelash curler, or you simply can’t remember where you put it, here’s a simple solution to that problem: warm up a teaspoon with your hairdryer and press the warm spoon curve inwards against your lashes, then gently roll it upwards. This hack will do the job when you’re stuck for time – just make sure the spoon isn’t too hot or you might burn your eyelids. Ouch!

Zara I've read half of these last week on another blog or buzzfeed. Can't remember which. Joburgs Darling seems to have lost the magic that made it so special.
