If you’re getting married soon and haven’t booked your venue yet then I must insist that you check out White Light Lanseria - The Forum Company’s newest venue in an already super impressive list of event venues. I am not one of those girls who dreams about what my wedding day is going to look like, but after paying a visit to White Light for the venue’s launch party last year I decided almost instantly that should I get married in the near future that this would be the place I would love to tie the knot. Here’s why anyone celebrating a wedding, birthday, anniversary or any other special occasion simply MUST consider this extra special event space.

It’s difficult to explain exactly why this new venue is so special. As its name implies the venue is completely white; a blank canvas just waiting for you to fill it with light, beauty and any colour you can think of. This space allows you to plan your wedding event as you imagined it from the very start – which means you don’t have to worry about the puke coloured carpeting, bright and bashful wall paper or over the top light fittings clashing with the decor of your dreams. And, while that is amazing and incredibly unique for an event venue, for me it’s not what makes this place truly special.

The thing that really struck me about White Light is its natural raw elements, country scenery and the incredible spirit of the place. I know that sounds weird; I mean, how does a venue have spirit? But trust me this space screams new beginnings, promise and absolute bliss. Maybe it’s the beautiful open air chapel flanked by trees just outside the venue, the view of the countryside from the extra large windows or the fact that it’s impossible for sunlight not to come pouring through the wall-to-wall windows into every corner of the dining hall. There’s no doubt in my mind that this spot is as special as they come.

The perfect venue for a country-style wedding, White Light also offers exceptional cuisine with un-matched service and event expertise. If you’ve never had the pleasure of sampling The Forum’s food then trust me when I say it is beyond amazing. I was lucky enough to attend a Forum dinner and the food was just incredible and oh-so-inventive! And, on top of that they also have an amazing in-house event planner who can assist you with the planning of your dream event or wedding. Just take a look at the photos below for an example of the types of events they can create for you.

The White Light venue can hold up to 140 people with a dance floor and a wedding ceremony can be hosted in the serene open area. As for the bride, she can get ready for the big day in the beautiful elegant vintage-style bridal room which offers garden views and plenty of room for her and her bridesmaids.

So how much does all of this cost? According to their website The Forum offers a White Light Wedding package at R540 per person which is ideal for a wedding of 80 - 100 guests. Otherwise the venue can be hired for R15 000 on weekends and public holidays, or R12 000 on weekdays.

Gerda Kruger I would like to thank Felicity and the team for the assistance and excellent service we experienced on 2nd April. The food was delicious, all served on time. Waiters were friendly and available. The chef was great. Joyce assisted us and even worked on a public holiday with us, with a smile. I will recommend the venue and the team.

Crystal (Joburg's Darling) Crystal (Joburg's Darling) Hi Genea I am sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience dealing with the venue! I simply write and report back on my experiences upon visit the spot and other dealings with the company. Regarding your account I have also received comment back from The Forum Company and White light so that we can have an alternative perspective on the matter. Their comment is below. "The Forum acknowledges Genea's comment with concern; firstly that there was some confusion between the parties to begin with and, secondly, that her comments are selective and one-sided. All of this was discussed between the parties at some length and believed to have been resolved, so it is disappointing that her complaint has been resurrected in this public manner Genea did receive a quote but did not confirm her booking. When her allegations were brought to the managing directors attention Genea was offered and accepted an alternative venue at our upmarket Turbine Hall venue at the original price; a substantial discount. That is a far cry from ignoring the matter. Ironically, Genea later cancelled the venue because her fiancee would be on business overseas at the time of the wedding. [The cancellation did not incur any loss of deposit]. We regret that Genea felt any stress and agree brides do not want to be in such a position. Over the years we have assisted in many wedding celebrations and pride ourselves on our professional approach; an approach supported by the large number of bookings we receive from potential brides."

Genea I would be very careful before using this venue. I had pre-booked them for my wedding with a confirmed quote only with them to decide to increase the quote when they realised the interest received in the venue was better than expected (their words not mine). When I tried to argue that this wasnt right and I wanted to speak to management, it was never escalated and I was told management was 'busy' and that it 'is what it is' and that they are just 'sorry', which meant that I had to find a new venue just 4 months before my wedding. After complaining via social media and through the media did management finally call me back and offer to assist (at which stage they were very helpful). Please brides, be careful, no one wants that kind of stress or worry from a venue with no sense of worry from their side.
