The seasons are changing, Darlings … chillier days are definitely on the way. What I’m trying to say is that it’s that time of year again when you need to learn how to dress a trendy autumn ahead.
I don’t know about you, but I adore autumn … the cold, the colours, the smells, and being able to curl up next to a fire in a sweatshirt with a pumpkin spice latte in hand. Just the thought makes me feel all fuzzy inside! Here are my top must-have garments for dressing well for the season ahead.
1. Biker Jacket
Biker jackets are pretty much the wardrobe staple of the millennium … and lately, designers are getting very creative! From prints to embellishments, these edgy jackets are transitioning from chic to plain old sweet. For autumn, I suggest going for a well-fitted biker jacket. The more fitted, the better, in fact. The oversized leather jacket was a 80s trend … and I wasn’t the biggest fan. I find that wearing a biker jacket over a plain bodycon dress instantly glams up the outfit.

2. Boyfriend Jeans
Boyfriend jeans started off a few years ago and are now a key staple that every girl needs in her closet. These baggy, relaxed jeans are not only comfortable, but uber-chic. Over-the-knee boots look gorgeous with a chunky knit sweat and leggings, or a fun dress and a wide-brimmed hat.

This autumn is jam-packed with gorgeous carryalls to woo even the most discerning fashionista … but one of my favourites is definitely the studded handbag. From sturdy satchels to the latest take on bucket bags, there are lots of different kinds to choose from. I find that a spacious studded bag is the prettiest and most wearable of the season, but a handbag is a personal piece so you may beg to differ.

6. Statement Necklaces
One of my favourite fashion trends right now is the big, bold statement necklace. The fact that just one piece of jewellery can alter your entire look is pretty awesome in my opinion … the power of the necklace is strong! Pair one with a T-shirt and jeans to mix glamour with grunge, or use it to accessorise a plain button-up shirt. If you have heaps of hair, put it up in a bun or sleek ponytail so that your necklace can take the spotlight.

Offering a swift and easy route into autumn this year, the tightly drawn belt signals new-season nous. This tip is especially great for ladies with curvier hips. I love wearing a feminine belt to dress up a plain winter dress.

Lend a touch of true ladylike goodness to your outfit with the help of a faux-fur stole. It looks elegant over pretty much any winter piece of clothing, but I find it especially chic over a long trench coat … an outfit idea to save for the colder days!
