By now I’m sure you’re all up to speed with my feud with Mother Nature due to her decision to smite me with incredibly sensitive skin. In the past I’ve waxed lyrical about fabulously soothing and healing beauty finds that have helped me combat this curse, and while these products were a real gem of a find, there’s always been something missing. I’ve found creams and potions to soothe and moisturise the face, hands, feet and body but I just couldn’t find anything gentle enough for my hair and scalp. And, being as completely obsessed with my hair as I am, I’m sure you can imagine just how traumatic this was for me. Luckily for me my prayers have been answered, because I’ve just discovered Treemendus, the most amazing range of organic tea tree-based products that includes an incredible shampoo and conditioner – hallelujah!
Treemendus is South Africa’s first and only certified organic range of tea tree personal care products and I’m positively smitten with everything in the range. All the products are made from organic tea tree oil and other ingredients which have been especially selected for their gentle healing properties. If you or your kids suffer with sensitive skin or pesky skin ailments these products are the saviours you’ve been looking for. The products are certified organic by an external third party, ECOCERT, which means they are free from any harmful chemicals (like SLS, parabens, petrochemicals, synthetic fragrances, colouring or plant pesticides and fertilizer residues).
The range includes an organic body lotion, body wash, hand wash and essential oils but I was really interested in trying out their shampoo and conditioner; which claims to moisturise your hair while also treating dry, itchy scalp conditions. For the past 10 years I’ve been using a terrible chemical shampoo, because it was the only thing I could find that worked for my dry scalp, and have complained to anyone who would listen about how it wreaked havoc on my poor hair. I felt like I was doomed to spend my life committed to a shampoo that I absolutely hated until Treemendus came into my life.
I put the shampoo and conditioner to the test for a few weeks and was wowed by the results. Both products are incredibly soothing to the skin and don’t strip the moisture from my hair like my dreaded ex shampoo (yes the divorce has now been finalised)! The gentle shampoo (with tea tree, peppermint and neem oils) deep cleanses your hair and prevents dry, itchy scalp conditions while Rosemary stimulates growth and adds shine to your hair – genius! The conditioner (with tea tree and rose geranium oils) is just as amazing as it protects and balances your hair whilst also preventing dry, itchy scalp conditions. It also contains nourishing jojoba oil and Shea butter which provides an extra kick of moisture to the hair.
I also loved just how affordable the products are! My ex shampoo used to set me back about R150 a pop – not to mention the extra spend on ultra expensive conditioners, hair masks and treatments to treat my poor draught stricken locks. The Treemendus shampoo will set you back a cool R60 and the conditioner just R55 – which means there’s more money for fun stuff like shoes (I feel that deserves another hallelujah!)
