I’ll admit it: I’m a sushi addict of note. Can you blame me? I mean, is there anything better than a plate of creamy salmon roses and crunchy tempura rolls? Thought not! I recently discovered an absolute gem of a sushi joint in the hot restaurant district of Linden by the name of Hashi that put all of my cravings at bay – just wait until I tell you all about it!
Now, you may have heard of Hashi before – previously located in Rosebank, they’re now even better than before! On the menu, you’ll find everything from tasty starters and soups, to sublime sushi rolls and main meals. Trust me when I say that you’re spoilt for choice here!
I visited Hashi recently with a friend of mine and we opted to sit inside the cutesy little interior. The atmosphere was lovely and chilled, which made us feel comfortable right away. Despite some of the super-fancy menu items, Hashi isn’t a spot where you need to dress up to fit in (major sigh of relief there, right?).
To start off, we ordered up a round of shaken margaritas as well as both the Shumai steamed dumplings (filled with shrimps pork and vegetables) and sushi pizza (one of the restaurant’s newest menu items) to share.
Yes, a sushi pizza – sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? Made of a crunchy rice base topped with thinly sliced salmon and avocado, then drizzled with a spicy sauce, you can bet that it was totally drool-worthy!
I then ordered the 20-piece Salmon Hashi Platter, which consisted of hosomaki, fashion sandwiches, California rolls, nigiri and roses. All I can say is, well... wow! Everything on the platter was simply sublime – the ingredients were all wonderfully fresh, and the chef behind the dish really made our sushi pieces look like little works of art.
My friend ordered the Prawn Curry (deshelled prawns cooked in Hashi’s special yellow curry sauce) and was just as impressed with her meal. She said that it was one of the tastiest prawn curries she’s had in a long time.
The next time you’re harbouring a sushi craving, go and check Hashi out. The food is just awesome, the service is quick and friendly, and the place itself is upmarket but at the same time comfortable. It’s great for a lunch or dinner with friends, or even an intimate date night with that someone special.
Say Hi to Hashi on .
