Darlings, tucked away in a little shopping centre in the rather unassuming suburb of North Riding, you’ll find Joshua Tree Restaurant & Bar, a trendy spot that serves up refreshing cocktails and tantalising fare. I recently paid them a visit myself to see what all the fuss was about, and am excited to tell you all about it!
I arrived at the restaurant on a Wednesday evening with my boyfriend, Nik, for a couple of drinks and dinner. I was instantly delighted by how vibey the place was … the atmosphere was wonderfully uplifting. We were lucky enough to secure in the breezy outdoor section, which boasts understated décor like little pot plants and dark wood furniture.
To kick off the evening, I ordered one of their newest cocktails, the Purple Rain, while Nik opted for a glass of white wine. Along with our drinks, we also ordered up two starters to share; the grilled calamari and fried squid heads as well as the haloumi cheese and peppadew spring rolls. Our starters came out quickly, and were divine. The calamari in particular was very tasty. The lemon and dill butter that it was served in was sublime.
We then dove right into our mains; for which I chose the Norwegian salmon fillet and Nik the 350g aged beef rump. Our mains too reached our table within good time, and were very fresh and flavourful. My salmon was cooked perfectly, and the bed of wasabi mash that it was served on was simply scrumptious. Nik’s rump, which I was lucky enough to have a bite off, was just as delicious.
After scoffing down our mains, we unfortunately had no room left for dessert, but you can bet that I’ll be back soon to try their Baked Alaska and Decadent Chocolate Brownie! All in all, I enjoyed dining at this chic new spot. Although unpretentious, it’s super-vibrant and boasts a comfortable ambiance, which makes it a fabulous spot for a chilled-out dinner or after-work drinks. Go and check it out for yourselves, Darlings.
