Darlings, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but your credit card is about to suffer a serious setback! You see I’ve gone and found an amazingly awesome online gifting and decor store and there’s isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that your bank balance is going to make it out alive. So, even though it’s pay day (almost), here’s why you should probably avoid paying a visit to Mooi Goete– unless you are perfectly happy swopping your money for incredibly beautiful hand-made things that is!
My favourite thing about Mooi Goete is that their mandate is simple – they only stock absolutely pretty handmade things. I’m not even kidding when I say that I briefly considered selling some of the things I already own just to replace them with some of the gorgeous items on this site. And, trust me when I say that their stock list is seriously impressive. With everything from décor items, cute baby wear and women’s clothing to vintage place mats, handbags and fine silver jewellery you can spend ages (and loads of money) on this site. So, if you love and appreciate locally handmade goodies and the joy of receiving a beautiful package in the post, then you’d better make room in your budget this month for something special from Mooi Goete.
I found this incredible store just over a week ago and when I really got stuck into shopping through their various categories I couldn’t bring myself to leave the site, let alone not buy anything. I told myself I was only allowed to buy one thing, but narrowing it down to just one thing was like Sophie’s Choice! It took a while but I finally managed to compile a list of must-haves which included the most beautiful wooden Birdie Brooches (R220 for three), a set of four Old School Coasters (featuring the Mrs Balls, Lion Matches, Lucky Star and Royal Banking Powder logos – R250) and a vintage-looking gold-painted wooden mirror (R205). Alas, even after all that shopping, I still needed to buy more, and right now I’m willing myself not to buy a set of sterling silver Africa Cufflinks for the boyfriend (R880).
I’m also completely obsessed with their range of baby goodies and as result I am looking for someone with a cute baby just so I can gift them the Baby Pilot Beanie (a hand crocheted beanie that makes it look like your baby is wearing vintage pilot goggles – R195), and the baby Grandpa Cap (a handmade soft denim grandpa cap that is sure to turn any baby into the most stylish baby in the room - R230). Their baby range is so beautiful it makes me want to have a baby of my own (but only because I’ve realised that buying stuff for my future baby now would be a little bit weird).
