Darlings, I first fell in love with The Hussar Grill when I was in Cape Town and let me tell you … this steakhouse is something else! So you can imagine my excitement when I found out that they’d opened up shop in Joburg! As soon as I heard the news, I made a beeline for Morningside Shopping Centre.
My friends and I were warmly welcomed into the restaurant on Saturday night. Our waiter was super-knowledgeable about the food – he presented us with a meat board and explained all the different cuts in detail before making recommendations. I’m usually a fillet kind of girl but I must admit he made me second-guess myself – it was a tough decision.
I had some time to decide on what to eat while I sipped a glass of wine and munched on the complimentary (in other words … addictive) sweet potato chips and dry wors. Yum!
I am a creature of habit and, after umming and ahhing about what to have, I went for my usual (I know, I know … I’m boring) – a 200g fillet steak, which I had with a side salad (the salad could have been a meal in itself it was so huge) and some extra grilled mushrooms, which were buttery and delicious. Of course I had a bite or two of my boyfriend’s T-bone (food always tastes better off someone else’s plate, am I right?), which was tender and juicy ... I might have to change my ways and order that next time.
Darlings, The Hussar Grill did not disappoint! We were a table of eight so the food took a while but it was definitely worth the wait … the steakhouse first opened in 1964 so it’s pretty safe to say that they’ve got the hang of things by now! All in all, everyone enjoyed their meals and we will most certainly be back!
Say Hi to The Hussar Grill on .
