I know I’m always going on about how important ‘me time’ is but the truth is ... I don’t get enough of it. And I’m not talking about pampering yourself (though I really enjoy doing that too), I’m talking about simply spending time on your own. I realised how much I needed those moments when I went to Gia’s on Montrose for breakfast the other day (and this time, I went alone!).
Now don’t get me wrong, I love my family (especially my fiancé Brenden) but there are times when I crave breakfast for one. But let’s be honest – it’s more about the location! The great thing about Gia’s is that it’s literally a hidden gem (you could be forgiven for driving right past it when you're on South Road in Sandton).
Having said that, I feel like that’s also the appeal of it ... there’s something enchanting and quaint about it (and that’s just the entrance!). Although, the restaurant itself echoes that statement – the tables are set out in and around a gorgeous garden and it’s the perfect setting for some quality time outdoors (and let me just say – never underestimate time with Mother Nature).
Anyway, I love the breakfast menu there … my favourite has to be the Deluxe Breakfast Croissant (R74), which is basically rocket, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomato, parmesan shavings and balsamic reduction, served on a crispy croissant – yum! I also enjoy their refreshing coffee shake (R34) to fight off the spring (or even summer) heat that we’ve been subjected to lately.
If you’d rather pop over to Gia’s for lunch, they have homemade burgers, sandwiches and more! Add a good book and girly sunglasses to the mix and you’ve got a day of pure bliss! There’s even an extensive nursery there if you’d like to pick up little gems for your garden at home. Darlings, I’ve been to Gia’s about three or four times now and I’ve loved the experience … every time!
Say Hi to Gia’s on .
