Children’s venues are becoming incredibly popular in Joburg as parents look for places to keep the kids entertained for hours without having to resort to the SPUR. Well, OrangoTangos is a place you will DEFINITELY want to check out, and soon!

OrangoTangos is situated on Malibongwe Ave in Randburg (where the old Mr Price Home used to be). This enormous indoor play venue caters for kids aged 1 – 12 with enormous jungle gyms, bumper cars, indoor soccer and a special play area for the very little ones. Kids can also play pool or table tennis and there are even Playstation 3 consoles for those that enjoy gaming. I love the fact that these enormous multi-story jungle gyms are netted for safety and provide hours of fun for kids who want to climb and balance and slide down into a pool of balls!

There are also various party rooms that provide exciting themed parties for kids (I suspect the Pirate Room will be booked the most!) OrangoTangos will also organise the party from start to finish – meaning that you get to host a stress-free party for your child before going home to a beautifully tidy and peaceful house!

Foodwise, there is a decent menu from which to choose. The kids have loads of options to keep them fuelled (but don’t expect to see much of them, they will be way too busy), and parents will not feel hard-done-by with the more adult selection on offer. There is also Wi-Fi for those of you looking to catch up on work while your kids are safely and happily occupied. Worth a visit!

Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday (9am to 5pm)

Cost: On weekdays it’s R50 for a day, weekends it’s R50 for an hour and R85 for three hours. Every half hour thereafter is R20 and R35 for every additional hour.

Caren I would rather go to bambanani in Melville, the kids can play the whole day for free, excellent service and very yummy food! My kids absolutely love it!

Natachia I took my 2 boys there last Sunday they now charge a flat fee of R75 per child on a weekend. We stayed 45 min. I ordered the steak roll which was R58, it was filled with steak strips the same tasteless mixture I assume they put in their sandwich, you play almost R14 extra just for having it on a roll. I will never go back there again, they are overpriced, the service is slow. When I tried o talk to the manager on duty regarding the food he merely shrugged his shoulders. We ended spending R380 in 45 min for the mediocre food and expensive rates for playing, I will never go back there again.

Olivia T Swartz I've been there this past weekend and ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC; what a blast for me & the kids...... Just make sure you have a pair of socks for yourselves and the kids or you can buy them for R15.00 a pair! If you want to know how quick an hour can pass you by... visit Orangotangos :) I definately recommend OrangoTangos 10/10!!!

fiona We are always looking for new kiddies venues, and have found some gems. This one looks like a potential gem. But have to agree with May M, the weekend cost is totally ridiculous! Even for those who have greater disposable income than most, that is just daylight robbery! We will definately go check it out though during the week!

MayM Very nice place and seems convenient. But the prices are ridiculous for weekends! TOO ridiculous! M thinking of taking my lil one for his b-day, but I can't bring his friends! coz it would be a crazy amount for a 2 year old's b-day! I'd rather take him to a farm.

Nick What a brilliant concept!!! Secure play for our kids. Been there multiple times already and worth every cent.

Renell Info about the costs. On weekdays kids are charged R50 to play as long as they want. On weekends it is R50 for the first hour, R70 for an hour and half and R85 for two hours. If you have three kids, you only pay for two. Seeing is believing. Great value for your kids.

shani Hi I also thought wow R50 bucks but considering R85 for 3 hours - we normaly spend more atleast 2 hours at play areas - I think R85 is a bargain per child - it allows me a cup of coffee and some grown up time .
27 July 2011 at 04:29 pm
NeoM Prices are a bit steep... if not downright crazy! R50 per child for an hour, but midweek that is for an entire day???? nooooooooo.....
27 July 2011 at 04:16 pm
Thilo seems great but the hourly fee for weekends (when most parents choose to take their kids out to play) is not family friendly - needs to be revisited
27 July 2011 at 02:44 pm
Nieta Nice venue, but I think the cost per child is rather expensive.
27 July 2011 at 12:49 pm
Mirna Wow, just pricey! Most people have 2 or 3 children and it will cost an arm and a leg!
27 July 2011 at 12:27 pm

27 July 2011 at 12:15 pm
LJ No wonder we dont have any good places to go to in Randburg for Kiddies, look at the ridiculous prices! R50 per hour is disgusting and I shudder to think thats PER PERSON? Wow... what a rip off!
27 July 2011 at 12:03 pm
nt I think the prices are not competitive - the hourly rate start from R50 - that's crazy!

Shelli NT Hi NickiD - no outdoor venue - but loads of indoor space, even a soccer pitch. And plenty of tables near the window to soak up the sun!
21 July 2011 at 02:43 pm
