Ok, before I tell you about something that is literally going to blow you away, I want you to take a deep breathe in, and as you breathe out – let go of all your fears about the rest of this week. Why? Because it’s going to be awesome and you have to be in the right state of mind for it! Plus, I want you to be as excited as I am about the recently-launched drive-in at Montecasino!
In case you haven’t already heard, Montecasino has opened up its own drive-in to give you (and I) something awesome to do this winter. For some of us, the drive-in brings back some really cool memories … so when I heard about this one, I just had to check it out! As usual, I dragged my fiancé, Brenden along with me – I mean who wants to go to the drive-in alone anyway? One of the things I loved about the experience is how well thought-out the parking structure is (in other words, big cars at the back)!
We decided to watch Shrek (yes, the one with the green ogre) – what can I say, I’m a sucker for comedies (even if they are animated). The main movie starts at about 19:30 but before that, there are a bunch of short films to keep you entertained. Now before you decide to skip them, let me just say that these short films not only tug at your heart strings and tickle your funny bone, but are also just a treat for the imagination!
The drive-in comes complete with a cafeteria, which has everything from candy floss and toffee apples to the perfect companion for any movie – popcorn (R10)! If you’d like to get something a bit more filling, the cafeteria also offers hot dogs and burgers, both of which will cost you R30. Plus, there’s a whole host of yummy goodies on offer inside Monte, which you can bring into the drive-in area.
The experience will cost you R200 per car … so if this sounds like your cup of tea (or coffee), you need to get your tickets ASAP – the drive-in will only be on show for one more weekend! And don’t forget to arrive early if you want the best seats!
