I don’t know about you, Darlings, but very few things could beat some ‘me time’ at the spa or the salon. (Although I wouldn’t say no to an ol’ fashioned romcom and a tub of Häagen-Dazs ice cream either!) I believe that every girl has a coping mechanism when she’s had an exhausting week – for me (and my colleague, Fallyn), manicures seem to make everything better … and where better to go than to Slate Nail Boutique in Parkhurst?
If you’re looking for a place to be pampered or to relax and unwind in a tranquil and quaint environment – then Slate is definitely the place to visit. (I know this because Fallyn couldn’t stop raving about it when she got to the office the other day.) The salon is set in the heart of trendy Parkhurst and she says the owner, Ashleigh is really friendly and extremely accommodating. Plus, they have an amazing fireplace keeping you warm and cozy while you get your nails done. (Don’t let the recent warm weather fool you … winter isn’t over yet!)
Fallyn had the 60-minute Shellac manicure and the 60-minute Shellac pedicure and made sure to mention the amazing selection of colours that they had on offer. Both treatments included a scrub, a little cuticle care, filing and an amazing, heavenly massage (those were her exact words) with a vanilla orchard massage candle. She even got to indulge in a Nespresso cappuccino while she got her mani-pedi done. (Oh, she also says that the salon is extremely hygienic and that they sanitise your hands and feet prior to the treatment.)
They offer a few products including Shellac – a power polish, dried with an LED Light, which lasts up to three weeks, Vinylux – a polish that lasts up to seven days and dries in seven minutes and Morgan Taylor, which is known for its amazing colours. If that’s not enough for you, they’re having a special for the month of August (aka Women’s Month) where you only pay R280 for this treatment. I’ll see you there, Darlings!
