4th Avenue; Parkhurst.

Salmon, avo, rocket, mozzarella and balsamic; smoked kudu, fig, cucumber, naartjie and parmesan; kiwi, parma ham and haloumi – these are not exactly flavours we associate with sushi very often, but these are just some of the wonderfully wacky combinations to be found on the sushi menu at YuMe.

Adding a third to their blooming franchise, YuMe has just taken new roots in Parkhurst! I already have a soft spot for their Montecasino branch, so I am thrilled to see that there is another place to get my sushi and dim sum fix! Whether you’re the type to perch at the sushi bar, grabbing mysterious plates (priced by plate colour) off the conveyor belt; cosying up in the corner with a heavily laden table after changing your mind fifty times about what you can conceivably fit in your belly at one time; or sitting out on their lovely, sunny balcony area with a white wine spritzer and an entire afternoon stretched out before you – this new little corner of 4th Avenue is a wonderful addition to your dining radar.

The sushi itself is made from the freshest fish available, each is made expertly and quickly; their dim sum is a must-try and for those who aren’t so keen on sushi, they have a more than satisfactory selection of hot mains like curries, stir-fries and noodles. I can’t wait to go back to try their dessert spring rolls (strawberry, hazelnut and chocolate) – I just need to remember to save room!
